Formed-in-place matrices are reasonably new tools available to contractors. They involve application of fibres and binders. At a heavy application rate, the resultant layer will withstand a flow of water in overland flow channels.
The best feature of formed-in-place products is that they follow the contour of uneven terrain, eliminating the need for major earthworks on rocky ground or areas inaccessible to heavy equipment.
All blanket-type materials should be laid on even trimmed surfaces so that the material has contact with the soil and eliminates water flow under the blanket.
Polypropylene rovings material, which is also a spray method for use in channels and overland flow areas, is a very useful material for these conditions.
